　　1. 表示“命令”“吩咐”，可用作動詞或名詞;注意相應的賓語從句、表語從句、同位語從句等用虛擬語氣(should+v.)。如：

　　He ordered that the goods should be sent by air. 他命令貨物得空運。

　　His order is that all the soldiers should start at once. 他的命令就是所有的士兵馬上出發。

　　He gave orders that the work should be started immediately. 他發出指示要立即開始工作。

　　后接賓語從句時有時可以換成不定式或過去分詞的復合結構。如：

　　老板吩咐這工作必須按時完成。

　　正：The boss ordered the work (to be) finished in time.

　　正：The boss ordered that the work (should) be finished in time.

　　2. 表示“訂購”，也可用作動作和名詞，注意以下常用句型：

　　我向這家工廠定購了500雙鞋。

　　正：They ordered 500 pairs of shoes from the factory.

　　正：They placed an order for 500 pairs of shoes with the factory.

　　3. 表示“點菜”，也可用作名詞(可數)或動詞(及物)。如：

　　May I have your order, please? 請問你要點什么菜?

　　What shall I order for you? Steak or fish? 我給你叫什么菜? 是牛排還是魚?

　　4. 表示“順序”“秩序”“整齊”，只用作名詞(不可數)，注意以下常見搭配：in order(按序，整齊)，in good (bad) order (有 / 無條理)，keep order(維持秩序)，out of order(壞了，不運轉)，in order of size (date, time)(按大小、年代、時間順序排列)，等。

　　5. 比較 in order to與in order that：兩者都表示目的，但前者后接動詞原形，后者后接句子。如：

　　She learnt typing in order to help her husband with his work. 她學習打字是為了幫助她丈夫工作。

　　I bought a new car in order that my wife might learn to drive. 我買了一輛新車，以便我妻子學習駕駛。

　　注意，in order to do sth 的否定式是in order not to do sth，而不是not in order to do sth。如：

　　They must have worn gloves in order not to leave any fingerprints. 他們一定戴上了手套，以防留下指紋。

　　如果主句與從句主語相同，in order to 與 in order that 通?？梢曰Q。如：

　　2、Order表示“訂購”的用法

　　(1) to ask for goods to be made or supplied ;to ask for a service to be provided. 訂購、訂貨;要求提供服務

　　用法： order sth for sb ; order (sb)sth

　　例句：Shall I order a taxi for you ? 要我給你叫輛出租車嗎?

　　(2)to ask for sth to eat or drink in a restaurant or bar.點酒菜

　　誤：He suggested to go by plane, but I thought it would cost too much.

　　錯點二　誤接不定式的復合結構作賓語

　　漢語通常說“建議某人做某事”，但英語習慣上不能說 suggest sb to do sth，而說suggest sb’s [sb]doing

　　sth。也就是說，suggest 后不僅不接不定式，而且也不接不定式的復合結構。如：

　　他建議我們早點動身。

　　正：He suggested that we leave earlier.

　　誤：He suggested us to leave earlier.

　　當然，我們也可以用后接 that 從句的形式來表達此意思(注意謂語用 “should+動詞原形”這樣的虛擬語氣形式)。如：

　　I suggest that we (should) have lunch right now. 我建議我們現在就吃午飯。

　　He suggests that we should all go to see the film. 他建議我們都去看電影。

　　比較以下同義表達：

　　他建議他們在沒有聽到事實真相之前什么都別說。

　　正：He suggested (should) not saying anything till they heard the facts.

　　正：He suggested saying nothing about it till they heard the facts.

　　正：He suggested that they shouldn’t say anything till they heard the facts.

　　錯點三　混用其后賓語從句的語氣

　　suggest 后接賓語從句時，從謂語既可用陳述語氣，也可用虛擬語氣，其區別與 suggest所表示的意思有關：

　　1. 若suggest 表示“建議”，則其后接的 that 從句謂語通常用“(should)+動詞原形”這樣的虛擬語氣形式。如：

　　I suggested that she should go home. 我建議她回家去。

　　She suggested that I (should) be the leader. 她提議由我來做領導人。
