　　在報道中，phone-hacking scandal指的就是“電話竊聽門”。hacking的動詞hack在這里是“非法侵入”的意思，例如：Somebody hacked into the company's central database.(有人入侵了公司的中心數據庫。)而我們常說的“黑客”(hacker)也跟hack這個詞演變而來。scandal的意思是“丑事, 丑聞”，在我們中文里面，也就是指“xx門”。例如：The scandal hurt the government's image badly.(這丑聞嚴重損害了政府的形象。)
